Makapuu Lighthouse and Makapuu Tidepools

Makapuu lighthouse trail is probably one of the MOST EASIEST trails to hike on Oahu. The trail is located on the East side of Oahu and there is a parking lot designated for this hike. The gates open at 7:00am but most people arrive earlier in order to watch the sunrise! If you plan to come earlier, you will have to park on the side of the highway, outside of the gates.

The whole trail is on paved road, so you do not have to worry about tripping or climbing over anything. It is a great trail for the whole family! Your grandma can totally do this hike.

If you are up to the challenge, there is also a hidden trail that leads down to the Makapuu Tidepools. There is an increase in difficulty level so be prepared for that physical exercise down the mountain and back up! It is totally worth the effort though!
